Peter King’s POV of Young Jeezy
Well, I just got finished reading what Peter King has to say about Young Jeezy and I have to say that while I agree with the concept behind his “editorial,” I think he needs to learn a little more about how to write a well crafted POV/editorial piece. There is no question that Young Jeezy’s (or whomever decided to use them) decision to use snowmen on his t-shirts to represent cocaine dealers, was a bad one. Everyone makes mistakes and someone like Young Jeezy who clearly has not lived with or read the mainstream media before should be cut a little slack for this minor offense. To make statements like “researchers say the media has a profound effect on kids’ decision to use drugs” without citing a respected, or any, source is silly. Going a step or two further, and making it sound as if everyone in the USA now associates Frosty the Snowman with Young Jeezy and cocaine dealers is just plain silly and borders on dumb. Is it wrong, yes. But, an Op/Ed piece like this is ignorant.
